Lewis Carroll Quotes

British author and scholar1832–1898 12 quotes

Lewis Carroll was the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, an English author, poet, mathematician, photographer and Anglican deacon who spent most of his life as a scholar and teacher at Christ Church, Oxford.

His Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass (1871) are among the most important works of Victorian literature. He loved wordplay, logic and puzzles, invented the word ladder game he called "Doublets", and wrote nonsense poems such as Jabberwocky and The Hunting of the Snark. Some of Wonderland's upside-down reasoning echoes his own work on mathematical logic.
