You can read everything on Little Wisdom without an account, and we collect as little as we can.
What we collect
Like most websites, our server records basic technical details for each request: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure, and we delete them after 90 days.
Separately, we keep a log of visits from automated crawlers, such as search engine bots, identified by the name they send with each request. It records the crawler, the page, the response and the address it came from, so we can confirm that a visitor claiming to be a search engine really is one. It is deleted after 90 days and does not include ordinary visitors.
To prevent abuse, requests from our mobile app are counted per minute under a scrambled form of the address that cannot be turned back into it. These counts are deleted within minutes.
When you use the search box, we keep the words you searched for and how many results came back, so we can see what readers look for and fill the gaps. These entries are not linked to you in any way and are deleted after six months.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to learn which pages people read and how they find us. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set after you choose Accept in the banner at the bottom of the page. Until then, and if you choose Decline, Google receives only basic signals without cookies (such as that a page was viewed), which it uses to estimate visit counts. Visitors from other countries have analytics on by default.
Wherever you are, you can turn analytics cookies off or on at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer. Your choice is saved in your browser.
When analytics is on, Google receives details such as the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser, and how you arrived. We do not use it for advertising, we do not share it for ad personalisation, and we keep the data for the shortest period Google offers. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy.
Apart from analytics, we do not set cookies for visitors. A cookie is used only when site staff sign in to manage content.
Quote of the Day emails
If you sign up for the daily email, we keep your email address, the page you signed up on, and when you confirmed. We use it only to send one quote a day. Your address is never sold or shared for marketing. The emails are delivered by Brevo, an email service that processes the address on our behalf.
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, your address is deleted. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after seven days.
Advertising
The site does not run advertising. If that changes, we will update this page first.
Services we rely on
- Cloudflare delivers and protects the site, so your requests pass through its network.
- Brevo delivers the Quote of the Day emails to people who subscribe.
- Google Fonts serves our typefaces, which means your browser contacts Google’s servers to load them.
- The share buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to X, Facebook, WhatsApp or LinkedIn unless you click one.

You can ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to [email protected].
